Associate Professor Andrew Steer

Associate Professor Andrew Steer is a paediatric infectious diseases physician in the Department of General Medicine at the Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne; Director of the Infection and Immunity Theme at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, Melbourne; group leader of the Group A Streptococcal Research Group at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, Melbourne; and principal research fellow at the Centre for International Child Health at the University of Melbourne.

He is a founding committee member and current Chair of the International Alliance for the Control of Scabies.

A/Prof Steer’s research interests are epidemiology and control of tropical childhood skin diseases; group A streptococcal clinical and molecular epidemiology; group A streptococcal vaccine research; rheumatic heart disease pathogenesis, epidemiology and control.
